Chapter 2

“Delta”

25/06/2113

I woke up, only to discover that I had been sleeping for more than three months, thanks to my digital watch. Also I was starving, and had no idea where I was, since I was in the middle of a strange room…

You see, it had been a long time since someone pulled me in a strange warp-void thingy. I realised I was probably going to die soon, because I didn’t have enough food to survive. This was horrible. Plus, I had many questions:

1. Did the warp-void thingy capture the other humans?
2. Where the heck am I?
3. Who pulled me in the warp-void thingy?

Most importantly, I already missed my family and friends, and did not want to die in sadness. Suddenly, I heard a strange, robotic voice. Could this have been a sudden end to this nightmare?  

“Welcome, human”, said the voice.

“Who are you?”I shouted in despair.

“Where are you?”

“My name is Yz50, and I come from the planet Sphatrix. As where I am, you are in my body right now. I am a humanoid robot and can contain up to three objects your size.”

“What the heck is happening?”

“You are currently on planet Sphatrix, the planet of robots. It has been 3 months that we have been travelling in the void-a new dimension that us robots have created. It makes us travel in space-time. You see, you have the impression that it took three months, but in reality it took just about a second. We have brought you here because we needed one person from every galaxy, and in your galaxy, the milky way, earth was the best planet. So we chose someone from planet earth, and the one we chose was you, because you were standing next to our “portal” when we were looking for somebody. We want a person from every galaxy as we are holding a tournament. The goal is simple: whoever can build a machine that can stop the glitch that is happening in our universe wins. As for the losers, they will face severe consequences. Also, I have placed a machine that will enable you to talk with other people in your human language, “explained Yz50.

I had so many thoughts in my mind. A tournament? That wasn’t a great solution to stop a glitch in our universe. Plus, it was pretty strange he didn’t tell me what happened to all the other human beings on planet earth. Could this have been related to the severe consequences? Why were there severe consequences? All these thoughts were spinning in my mind. I guessed this was the start of an adventure.

26/06/2113

I woke up as it was the start of a new day. A day that was the beginning of my new life-finding a solution to stopping a strange glitch in our universe. I had no ideas for what I could do, so I just focused on finding a place where I could eat. I saw a shop with “Marco’s bar” written on it so I walked inside. There wasn’t any menu, so I just asked for a hot chocolate and a croissant.

“Hell, can I get a hot chocolate and a croissant?”

The waiter looked startled.

“A HOT CHOCOLATE? A CROISSANT? WHO DO YOU THINK WE ARE??? WE DON’T SELL JUNK FOOD FROM PLANET EARTH! WE ARE “MARCO’S BAR” AND WE SELL QUALITY FOOD! WE AREN’T ROBBERS!”shouted the waiter. 

Everybody was looking at me strangely. It was as if hot chocolates and croissants were a disgrace in this world. 

“Euh, I’ll just take the breakfast menu,”I sputtered.

“FINE. Ivor, give the kid a spash and a bottle of water!”the waiter said to another waiter.

The other waiter, apparently named Ivor, gave me what looked like a blue waffle and a bottle of water.

“What’s a spash?”I asked.

“Don’t ask me, just eat it!”replied Ivor.

I ate the “spash” and prayed I wasn’t going to die. After all, who knew what could possibly happen? 

“I do”

A voice was speaking to me telepathically.

“In my planet, planet Eergo, we talk with our own minds. My name is Parwell. Nice to meet you”

A strange guy with a big head and a small body waved at me. I waved back, hoping it was polite in this unreal-looking world. Suddenly, some random person started shouting:

“DELTA’S HERE! DELTA’S HERE!”

I started wondering who the heck was Delta, but I could feel something strange happening to me. My body was changing colour. I pushed Parwell to get him to tell me what was happening, and he simply croaked these words in my mind:

“Kid, this is all normal. A spash gives you the illusion your body turned into a certain colour. People just love that. Right now, I have the illusion my body is red, even though it isn’t. It only lasts for a minute. You’ll have to get used to that in this world.”

“Oh”, I told myself. This was all normal. I only wished I had asked Parwell who in hell was Delta, but it  was too late. A big man in red clothing with a black cape stepped into the cafe. He ordered:

“Give me a red spash, and do it fast! I ain’t wasting any time here. YOU!”Delta pointed at me, and I was confused. I predicted it was better to listen to him.

“Tell me your name. You’re new here, aren’t you?”

“My name is Tom”, I shrieked.

Every single person in the cafe looked at me, once again. It was probably because of the fact I shrieked. I begged that Delta would turn around and act as if nothing had happened, but instead he said:

“Ah, earthlings. They are all so weak and immature. Let me remind you all that in my planet, planet Dominium, nobody is weak!”He then grabbed his spash and got out of the cafe. I was hugely relieved, like a mouse that escaped from a cat. I quickly decided to ask someone who was Delta. There was a guy that looked like a half mutant dolphin, half gorilla. He, in my amazement, politely replied.

“Delta, my dear, is the one that launched this project. He is the one that discovered all about the glitch, he is our worthy leader. Sadly, I do not know anything else, as even I am new to this place. I only have one piece of advice: NEVER say bad things about him.”
